Men’s Ice Hockey forward Jhuwon Davis also known as “JuJu,” signed with the Dansbury Hat Tricks, a professional hockey league in Danbury, Connecticut. The Hat Tricks are members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), an independent minor league that has teams across the country.

“It feels good, ever since I started playing hockey, I’ve wanted to play professional hockey, so now that’s it’s here it’s exciting,” Davis said.

He said he chose the Hat Tricks because they won the Commissioner’s Cup Championship in 2023.

“Growing up playing hockey my dream was to play in the NHL but not so anymore, I believe this accomplishment will help me start my professional career and help my resume to play overseas in the future, I did have other offers from other professional teams, and chose Danbury because of their recent success last year and their ability to develop players to help them move to higher leagues.”

He said New England College prepared him for the next step.

“NEC prepared me by providing me with the right tools to succeed and allowed me to develop as a person and player on and off the ice.”

Davis said his advice to other NEC athletes that hope to play professionally, is to be a solid player and teammate.

“I know that I won’t play hockey for the rest of my life. Hockey has delivered me many opportunities and brought me to places I’ve never believed I’d go nor live. Seeing how far I could go in the sport and where it could take me in the future excites me.”
