NEC ‘Grims Volleyball played in three games last week: Tuesday against University of Vermont-Lyndon, Thursday against Wellesley College and Saturday against conference opponent University of Saint Joseph Connecticut. NEC finished the week winning two of those games. The highlight of the week was in their game on Tuesday against Lyndon.

The ‘Grims were able to finish the game against Lyndon in three sets and also set a program record for the most service aces in a single game with 34. Junior Savannah Pilialoha and Sophomore Alison Hayes led the game with eight service aces each.

Pilialoha said the team’s mentality carried their serving throughout the game.

“I would say that the biggest thing about our serving this past game was the mentality of putting it in the court and giving us a chance to make a play. We have been practicing and working hard with our serves every practice, which has given us an amazing outcome,” she said.

Now sitting at 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the Conference, the ‘Grims look to take on Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Tuesday, September 19.
