New England College held its 3rd annual Shark Tank event in the Simon Great Room on Wednesday afternoon. Students competed by giving business pitches in a “Shark Tank” style to well established businesspeople for a grand prize of $500.Panel of businesspeople being introduced.
David Novotny claimed top prize with his idea of Click Pawz a dog fashion brand with the slogan, “Walk Your Dog in Style”.
Annessa Borton came in second winning $100 with her idea of Pocket Sand, a self defense method that lies right in your pocket. Nyah Piper took home the student voted People’s Choice Award for her locally sourced garden for New England College students.
Additionally, a separate competition for online students was held, the winner of that being Halima Audu.
Six students gave their pitches to a panel of six esteemed businesspeople, most of whom had affiliation with New England College.
While the panel deliberated their choice for the best pitch, the audience participated in a game of Kahoot that covered everything “shark” related.
The event ended with the announcement of the four winners to which they had a short moment to share what they will do with their earnings.
