Feb. 13 marked the Super Bowl, as well as the opening of the Tortington Arms West Pub in Henniker, N.H., for the spring semester. For the opening, Jay Taylor and Sophie Proctor, pub assistants, hosted a Super Bowl party in the pub from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.. The great room was utilized, as well, holding another area for students to watch the game while still social distancing. There was also cornhole and free food.
“Being in athletics were used to being here seven days a week, anyways,” said Ben Master, softball coach and supervisor for the event. “Why not help out and do what needs to be done?”
When it came to the halftime show both rooms erupted with music and dancing.
“Schools across the country have big events,” Master said. “Whether it’s a huge school or a small school, you need to have community events for the school. I think this is a great thing, and I’m glad I was able to help out.”
He said he would definitely help supervise again. “Anything that can be done to help the students have great events like this is only a plus.”
With cornhole, food, and booze, everyone said they had a good time.
The pub’s next event will be Feb. 22 with trivia. An email will come out with more information.
