The Putnam Center for the Performing Arts is reopening after being shut down for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Professor Alexandra Picard and the students of the theater program seem eager to get shows running again.
“So, the building was finished in January, and [then] a few weeks into February we shut down,” said Alexandra Picard. They were a few weeks into rehearsing when the campus was shut down for the spring. “We’ll be picking up where we left off for the fall show with Eurydice… October 21st to the 23rd,” said Picard.
The Putnam Center has gone paperless, with online ticketing available as well as a QR code that pulls up the show’s program, which helps avoid waste and streamline the program’s availability. The auditorium seats up to 300 students at max capacity, so there is plenty of space to see the new show. However, this space won’t be exclusively for shows. “We’ll be doing readings of student works… bands will be playing, we want this place to be busy.”
Their spring slate is uncertain, but for now, be sure to tune in for Eurydice when it comes to the Putnam Center on October 21st.
