New England College volleyball swept University of Saint Joseph in the Bridges Gym on Senior Night 3-0.

“I think we showed out for the seniors today. I thought we did a great job giving our hitters options. We were a little slow making adjustments when they were tipping against us and also our hitters staying aggressive,” Coach Kirsten Morrison said. “I think we’re moving in a good direction moving into our next conference game.”

The ‘Grims won a close first set against the Blue Jays 25-23. On the next two sets, the ‘Grims beat Saint Joseph by 9 points or higher and finished the game with 44 kills.

Fans said the team played strong.

“I thought they were aggressive, and they were playing for the lady next to them. I definitely thought Aurora did an amazing job setting and an amazing job setting her teammates up really well,” said Ashton Ventola.

Coach Morrison agreed that Aurora Gutierrez-Macias, a setter, had a strong night.

“Honestly I feel like we just performed with such love and passion. I think my teammates stand out more. You know they supported me, and I support them for all they do,” Gutierrez-Macias said.

Coach Morrison said it was a great night to celebrate the hard work of the seniors.

“I love them dearly and I think that they played their butts off today,” she said.
