NEC Men’s Soccer defeated Lesley University 2-0 on Sunday afternoon behind goals from Santiago Sanchez and Chase Gurtowsky.
The ‘Grims got started early on the 26th minute when midfielder Darren Mota crossed a free kick to Gurtowsky who headed the ball for his first collegiate goal.
Then in the 50th minute, midfielder Anthony Aguiar assisted Santiago Sanchez for his third goal of the season.
“We created many chances during the game, and that’s thanks to all of my teammates who have been working hard,” Sanchez said. “We need to focus on going game to game, do everything we can, and then hopefully we’re going to go to playoffs.”
David Spigel, a fan attending the game, liked the high pace and high intensity from both teams.
“They’re both high energy, fast paced, and very aggressive teams,” Spigel said. “They’re [NEC] all working good together, they have good chemistry, so I think they have a shot at making a run in the playoffs.”
Outside back senior Brian Lam is optimistic about the season and is excited to make a push towards playoffs.
“I think the team did pretty well. Coming off a win, we knew we had to get a result today, and we showed out,” Lam said. “It gave us a positive influence, and we’ll be ready to chase that feeling again Tuesday and throughout the whole season.”
