There are four spots that need to be filled for the blood drive sponsored by Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) this Wednesday Nov. 8, in the Great Room, according to Allie Birchmeier, Director of New Student and Family Programs.
“There are always blood shortages in the US, so by hosting four drives a year we are trying to help with the supply issues,” Birchmeier said.
“We started re-hosting the drives last year after the COVID concerns had lessened. One of the parts of the mission here at NEC is a commitment to community service and community involvement, this is a small part in hopefully instilling a life-long commitment for students in giving back when you are able too,” she said.
NEC has a diverse population that is helpful as the Red Cross tries to get many types of blood, Birchmeier said.
“As NEC represents a pocket of increased diversity, we have a potential to make a real impact.”
