The New England College women’s lacrosse team faced Lasell University in their second matchup of the season.

The game started even and with six minutes left in the second period, Lasell and NEC were tied 3-3. NEC then went on to score three back-to-back goals, making the score 6-3. They didn’t break their lead after that and won 11-7.

“I’m glad we got the first win as a new team, first time with multiple scorers on our team,” Junior Nathalie Antigua said.

NEC had seven different scorers in Tuesday’s matchup, with three Pilgrims gaining their first career goals.

Junior goalie Carleigh Knotts is looking to gain another championship this season after their victory in the 2022 season.

“It gives us the drive that we need to keep winning games and just build a championship culture like we talked about from the beginning,” Knotts said.

The frigid temperatures and snow didn’t hold the Pilgrims back from gaining a team win.

“It’s very cold, so they pushed through that, and they worked together,” fan Tatum Golis said.

The women’s lacrosse will host their next two games on Wednesday at 4:00 PM and Saturday at 12:00 PM.
