Monday, September 19th, marked the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at St. George’s Chapel on the premise of Windsor Castle, among the late Queen’s favorite residences. This has been a long-standing tradition as numerous prior monarchs have been laid to rest at this location. The Queen will rest in the memorial chapel with her siblings, Princess Margaret, and parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The Guardian suggests her late husband, Prince Phillip, will be moved alongside her.
Members of the royal family were in attendance at the event. Princess Charlotte was seen crying at the funeral with Prince George and Kate Middleton on her side. The brothers, Prince William, and Prince Harry were observed to make no eye contact during the procession but united as a family during the service.
There were thousands of people who lined the streets to get a look at the procession. There is unwavering support from the people of London, but also world leaders. Joe Biden and the First Lady paid their respects and represented the United States well. As the world continues, Queen Elizabeth will be remembered for her remarkable achievements.
