What appeared to be an alarming large black dog was spotted running across the campus at New England College in Henniker last week, but students who saw the animal quickly realized it wasn’t a pet.
After a few calls were made to campus safety, it was clear that this was no dog, it was a black bear.
Multiple sources on campus said that the bear, which looked to be a cub, ran through Simon lawn and towards Henniker’s town hall.

Campus safety confirmed the bear sightings on campus and said students should notify them if there are future sightings of a bear or other dangerous animal.
“Call us immediately,” the dispatcher said.
