The KKK is making a come back. Yes, you read that correctly. It is 2018 and the Klu Klux Klan is making a comeback into society and an attempted comeback to White Supremacist ideology.
The KKK gained their following through hatred and discrimination. In the mid to late 1800’s, the 1st Ku Klux Klan was established as a movement of solidarity for those that supported white supremacy, white nationalism and were anti-immigration. Those were the core ideas founded by this horrendous group that sadly have lasted hundreds of years, and now they’re back.
Now, for all my displeasantries of Donald Trump and his short tenure in office thus far, it would be wrong to dump this revival of the KKK on his shoulders. I mean, don’t get me wrong, since his presidency began he has without question alienated parts of our community, (i.e. Mexicans) and has had an extremely unwelcoming tone with immigrants and foreigners in our country.
With that being said, I don’t find Trump to be inherently racist. I don’t believe he is a good man, but I don’t believe racism is on his agenda. There is also no question Trump has helped create this tension between not only Americans and anti-Americans, but also within our U.S. society as a whole. Americans are beginning to second guess their neighbors once again. This is something President Obama worked endlessly and tirelessly to overturn not just because he was African American, but in large part because of some of the uncertainty that was left with the Bush administration post 9-11.
Flash forward to a time now where “Make America Great Again” is plastered across our streets and suburbs, and totally marketed by our mass media outlets. This slogan is as ignorant and as stupid as it is hurtful. Across the U.S, “Make America Great Again” has been interpreted as “Making America White Again.” As I said earlier, I don’t believe Trump is racist, and I also don’t believe him to be stupid.
A lot of people do not like him and justifiably so, however he is a smart man, and every move he makes is heavily calculated. Maybe his famous slogan has some potential good that we haven’t found about yet, but right now it proves to be a spark for people in our country to alienate others once again.
With Trump’s new administration, the KKK have felt the cobwebs of their old ideals suddenly come back to life. Trumps passive tone on White Supremacy has proven to be a life line into the darkest times of our American History and with the Klan making a comeback, it pains me to say this but, the worst is yet to come.

It is essential to address the fact that the KKK was enlisted by our government during Prohibition and in a fight against organized crime. President Obama divided the country with an identity strategy that put all of us into little boxes that compete with each other and he turned success into a bad word.
The fact is that the results make it clear that President Trump has done more for African Americans and Hispanics in terms of employment and home ownership than President Obama did.
The President shares the belief of many that legal immigrants bringing witht them what we call traditional values and come here to contribute may well be what saves our country as so many native-born have forgotten what our country is all about.
Keep up the good work. I was where you are in 1978 and it was great. Thanks for the story.
