Grown-ish: Episode 5 Review

Wow, I can’t believe what I just saw in episode 5 of Grown-ish. How much more pressure can they put on this kid?

Cash finally starts getting in the groove of things, but after a televised interview he’s caught juggling negative remarks directed towards him on social media. Plus, now that Zoey is Cash’s girlfriend, shade is being thrown at her too, which ultimately creates more problems for the both of them. To make matters worse, Cash spills a secret online that could potentially ruin Zoey’s reputation.

The truth is, you never really know what someone is going through until you sit down and ask them about it. The problem with people, particularly college students, is the constant fear and concern of caring what everybody has to say about you.

Why should it matter what everyone else thinks? People are always going to have something to say about you whether it be positive or negative. As long as you know what you truly value and continue to focus on yourself, nothing should stop your grind. If only Zoey understood this she wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place.

Highly disappointed in Cash’s actions online, Zoey considers putting an end to their relationship. If Zoey takes a step back and learns to not cry over spilled milk she wouldn’t be so stressed and focused on only her herself. Little does Zoey know, Cash isn’t just having problems on the court, but off the court as well. When she finds out that he’s having a family crisis with his dad, she comes to a realization that the world is actually bigger than just her problems.

The pressures of being a college student often make people forget that there are bigger problems going on in the world. Some people are so stuck in their own ways that they don’t try to see things from someone else’s perspective.

How can you be mad at someone that’s in a bad place mentally? Nobody is perfect, yet somehow people always seem to forget the emotional toll stress can create. As I mentioned earlier, you never really know what a person is going through until you actually sit down and talk with them about it. You never really know what people go through on a daily basis so making judgments and conclusions about them doesn’t make the situation any better.

Never let a crooked smile fool you, behind it could be pounds of emotions built up waiting to explode. When people keep their emotions inside, they build up and up until they can’t be hidden anymore. People handle their problems differently, so being Cash’s peace instead of his headache would put an end all the of their problems.
