New England College Series to Examine What’s Happening in Washington Today.

New England College President Michele Perkins is pleased to announce that former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card will address issues of politics, policy, and civil discourse at the next NEC President’s Speaker Series event on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in the Simon Center Great Room at 7:00 p.m.

Andy Card, the second longest tenured White House Chief of Staff, has served in senior government roles under three U.S. Presidents. Appointed in November 2000, Card served as Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush from January 2001 to April 2006. On September 11, 2001, Card is the one who famously whispered in President Bush’s ear while the President was sitting in a classroom in Florida, informing the President that terrorists had attacked the United States.

Card served as Deputy Chief of Staff and then as a Cabinet Member for President George H.W. Bush as the 11th Secretary of Transportation from 1992 to 1993. From March 1987 until March 1988, Card ran the successful New Hampshire Presidential Primary Campaign for George H.W. Bush. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Union Pacific, the Business Advisory Board of BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics, the Advisory Board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and on a number of non-profit boards. He joined NBC News as a contributor in April 2017.

“Andy Card is a widely recognized and highly admired public servant who is known for his common sense approach to good public policy,” stated New England College President Michele Perkins. “Secretary Card knows how things in government work and will share his unique insights into today’s headlines and offer his perspective on what’s happening in Washington.”

The NEC President’s Speaker Series is open to the public at no cost.
